Project Description
This was a design build project for the creation of a new Rural Initiative to create National Cemeteries for Department of Veterans Affairs. The project consisted of clearing approximately 6 acres of land for the new cemetery in Jonesboro Maine. The new cemetery will have a new crypt field, columbarium, committal shelter, along with other site features to make it a warm and inviting final resting place for our veterans. Additional requirements within the scope of work included road gutters, curb, sidewalk, fence, site utility, irrigation, turf, and landscape work.
The site has 600 underground crypts in phase 1 and 240 crypts in the columbaria wall. The entrance to the site will be along the Avenue of Flags to the center point of the site, the committal shelter and the main flag area. From this location new walkways will allow visitor and family to remember those who are interned at this site to view the green space and plaques that are dedicated to those who have served this country in war and in peace in their final resting places.
